Meghan Markle is reportedly not THAT close to her mother Doria Ragland, saw her just once a year during 'Suits'
Meghan Markle and her mother Doria Ragland may seem to have a close-knit relationship on the surface, however, media reports suggest that their relationship may not be as rosy as portrayed.
According to a report in Us Weekly, a source was quoted as saying, "She’s not very close with her mom." The report also quotes another source who has revealed that Ragland, who is a yoga instructor in Los Angeles, has no intention of moving to Canada just to be close to her daughter. The source said, "She is currently giving private yoga lessons to a select few clients."
The source also added about the 68-year-old, "Doria would only see Meghan once or twice a year while filming Suits in Toronto. Meghan isn’t as close to her mom as is known." Ragland was also a part of Markle's wedding ceremony with Prince Harry in 2018 unlike her father Thomas Markle who couldn't be a part of the ceremony after he got caught staging photos with the paparazzi.
Thomas also commented about Meghan and Prince Harry's decision to step back from the royal family. After Queen Elizabeth II confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would be spending more time in Canada and will also not be using their HRH royal titles on January 13, Thomas said that he is ashamed of his daughter and her husband for making that choice.
According to Us Weekly, he said on ITV's 'Good Morning Britain', "What they have decided to do is, to me, embarrassing. I think when they got married, they married into royalty and they knew what they were getting themselves into. That’s been Harry’s life, Meghan’s had a similar kind of life."
He also added, "I think they have hurt the queen. I think they have hurt the royals and it just doesn’t work to be going to another country to be serving England. It’s never going to work."
Meghan's mother is, however, yet to comment on the couple's decision to move to Canada with their son Archie.
A source also revealed that Meghan is happier after the exit from the royal family. The source said, "She has never been happier. She’s happy to be out of London. She was surprised at how quickly everything happened. They knew they’d have to relinquish their titles, but the pace it happened surprised everyone."
