'Married at First Sight': Is Brett insecure about 'breadwinner' Olivia making more money than him? Fans think so

Brett likes to budget and watch his 'net worth' grow and he doesn't seem remotely enthused about his wife wanting to travel and shop off of TVCs

Pastor Calvin Roberson's visit to Brett and Olivia's home has ruffled some feathers. He brought up finances, children and attraction in the hour-long conversation with the couple but little did he know that it would impact their equation, leaving Brett completely sour of Olivia's approach to life.

Brett likes to budget and watch his "net worth" grow. At the same time, he doesn't come across remotely enthused about his wife wanting to travel and shop off of TVCs. During a chat with his friend in this week's episode of 'Married at First Sight', he shared how she earned more than him and sarcastically spoke of her being a nurse practitioner. "I didn't know it was a thing. Basically, she's a nurse who can write drugs," Brett told her friend. 

If this attitude continues to dominate their narrative, budgeting and financing are going to snowball into a larger problem than it already is. Brett is clearly not in favor of renting houses and splurging and Olivia is the complete opposite. But she is willing to make it work. When she met her friend, she seemed worried and concerned about where they were heading in their marriage, which was a good sign because it seemed like she wasn't frustrated. She was hopeful that it will work out some way or the other. 

Meanwhile, fans have pointed out that Brett is insecure and jealous of Olivia's money, which has caused him to react fiercely about her financial situation and the things she wants to do with her earnings. 

"Brett is assuming Olivia doesn't budget because she stated she likes to enjoy her money. He is clearly bothered by her outearning him & this is something the experts SHOULD have asked before pairing an insecure man with a woman who is the breadwinner. #MAFS #MarriedAtFirstSight," a fan commented, while another shared: "Brett’s wife is a Nurse Practitioner but he’s talking down her profession. He’s so insecure. #MAFS #MarriedAtFirstSight."

"Brett is mad insecure and needs to get his life together. I'm sensing he might even be jealous of her financial situation. Nurse practitioners are right below doctors so I know she makes a lot of money. #MarriedAtFirstSight," a user tweeted.
