Following his decision to not play the national anthem ahead of any of the games, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban seems to have upset many fans of the team and it looks like his presidential future might be "officially over".

On Thursday, Fox News contributor Jack Brewer said on 'Fox & Friends', "We got to pray for him," adding that Dallas is the "heart and soul of America" and Cuban's decision was a show of "disrespect" to the team's fans.

The NBA requires that all teams play the national anthem before games "in keeping with longstanding league policy". But Dallas Mavericks owner Cuban reportedly said the team had decided not to play it at home games. Just a day after Cuban said he had no plans to play the national anthem at any future home games, NBA Chief Communications Officer Mike Bass said in a statement on Wednesday, "With NBA teams now in the process of welcoming back fans into their arenas, all teams will play the national anthem in keeping with longstanding league policy," Bass said.

Cuban reportedly told The New York Times, "We are good with it." The Mavericks have not played the national anthem at any home games at American Airlines Center this season. This decision was made by Cuban back in November.

Apparently, the decision wasn’t "because they don’t love the US, but because many feel the anthem doesn’t represent them, and they want to continue the discussion of how to represent people from all communities when honoring the US at the game," sources close to Cuban told The Athletic earlier on Wednesday.

Former NFL safety Brewer argued that the American people "do not want to see" the anthem removed from traditional televised sports programming, adding that Cuban’s move to nix the song is a "total disrespect" and a "slap in their faces."

"I can't believe that Mark Cuban did this," Brewer said. This led him to claim that Cuban's dream to be US president is over. "You got to remember, the NBA has taken a stand. They have felt the pains of supporting anti-family BLM movements. They felt the pain of supporting anti-American rhetoric. Their ratings dropped over 40 percent last year from doing that. They have taken a stand to stand for the American flag. God bless them for doing it. And then Mark Cuban goes out and goes against them. His presidential future is over officially from this episode."

And with that Twitter erupted with the same thought. "Remember when @mcuban wanted to be president? #NationalAnthem #NBA," one user commented with a facepalm emoji. "@mcuban You've been bitch-slapped by the NBA... Guess they realize this whole WOKE thing is destroying their Honeypot and you've been designated as an INSURRECTIONIST. Good luck running for president!" another user added quite sternly. "@mcuban after your comments on the Star-Spangled Banner, you are out of your mind, if you think I would ever vote for anybody that hates America like you-bye-bye to your thoughts about running for president," another user added sternly. "@mcuban bad move. Do you not love this country???? That is single handily the way to start the downfall of your career. Don’t care how rich you are people will remember this, bet on that," one said.

Deeming his decision, "unAmerican", some users went so far as to expect him to withdraw from his association with ABC's 'Shark Tank'. And if he doesn't do it, the network should take it upon themselves. "Boycott Shark Tank and it's advertisers.Mark Cuban refuses to play our National Anthem. This is very unAmerican. He always sends our production work to other countries on the show and he thinks that Americans would vote for him if he ran for President of our Country.Never forget!" one tweeted.

"@ABCSharkTank Sorry Shark Tank. Will no longer watch your show until Mark Cuban is removed from the show. His disrespect for our National Anthem is not something I can support. I used to really like Mark and thought he could run for public office. No more!" another user added.
