A father has confessed to killing his wife with a sledgehammer before tricking his young daughters—aged 7 and 9—into playing a game so he could easily choke them to death.

35-year-old Jacob Forman pleaded guilty to the triple homicide and was sentenced to life in prison on Monday, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reported.

Nearly two years ago, at the family's British Columbia home, Forman became enraged after being confronted by his wife Clara, 33, over his drinking. He subsequently struck her thrice in the head with a sledgehammer, the B.C. Supreme Court heard.

The professional plumber said he then took his daughters Karina, 7, and Yesenia, 9, outside to shovel snow and later took them to church. He confessed to authorities he told his daughters that their mother was screaming because she wasn't feeling well.

Upon returning home, Forman took Karina to her bedroom and told her they were going to play a game from his childhood. He told her to stand on her head and then immediately turn upright, as part of the game. When she was back on her feet, he choked her from behind until she stopped breathing. He then did the same thing to Yesenia.

For two days following the triple murders, Forman went to work after admittedly storing their bodies in the garage. In the meantime, he bought supplies to clean the blood off the carpet.

When a concerned colleague of Clara's showed up at their house, Forman told her his wife had left him.

Sensing something suspicious, the colleague summoned authorities, who found all three bodies in the garage of the family's Rutland residence.

Forman confessed he killed the girls because "it would be better for them to go to heaven than live in a world where their father killed their mother," The Sun reported.
