A Welsh man who was facing trial for 36 counts of rape after he was accused of fathering "at least" six children with his daughter and systematically raping and abusing two of his children has been found guilty of the crimes.

We had previously reported that the man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his children, also raped one of the children he fathered with his daughter, and groomed his children into performing sexual acts by "brainwashing" them and creating a "false world".

Prosecutor John Hipkin told the jury at the Swansea Crown Court that he "systematically controlled, groomed, and brainwashed" his victims "so their will was completely over-ridden by him."

He said the defendant used his control over his daughters for sexual gratification and "did what he wanted with them."

Hipkin also revealed that there were even elements of "witchcraft and mysticism" to the control he asserted which included creating a "false mystic" who was in communication with his daughters and told them to sleep with him.

He said that the defendant not only raped them himself but also arranged for other men to rape them as well. The defendant denied all 36 counts of rape, claiming that the sex was consensual.

He also insisted that he did not know that the girl was his biological daughter, according to the Daily Mail, but accepted that "everybody believed I was."

His defense did little to swing the jury, who found him guilty on all 36 counts in just four hours and 23 minutes.

Speaking after the guilty verdict, Judge Paul Thomas told the jury it was one of the worst cases he had ever come across.

"I have been involved in criminal cases as a barrister and as a judge for 40 years. This is in the top three worst cases I have ever had to deal with. I'm used to it, but for you to have to listen to this sort of evidence must have been a difficult experience. I can only thank you for doing your duty."

Detective Paul Jones of Dyfed-Powys Police said it was "very difficult to summarise the impact of the crimes" and thanked the victims for their courage in coming forward and reporting him.

"Their bravery and composure throughout this difficult trial has led to the conviction of a very dangerous offender, and I hope from today they can begin to move on and rebuild their lives," he said.

The father is scheduled to be sentenced on October 18.
