BEAUMONT, CALIFORNIA: Police have found the body of a 4-year-old girl in the home of two adults suffering from drug overdose on Wednesday, December 16, around 9 pm. Of the adults (one male, and the other female), the female has died in the hospital while the man remains in critical condition. The police have labeled the 4-year-old's death as suspicious, and detectives from the police are currently investigating the case thoroughly.

A statement released by the Beaumont Police Department, describes the situation, as firefighters were called in to investigate a call regarding a seizure. There, the first responders discovered two adults who appeared to have been overdosed on drugs, as well as the body of a small child. The statement reads, "On December 16, 2020, at approximately 8:54pm, Beaumont Police Department was requested by Cal Fire to respond to an apartment in the 800 block of E. 6th Street. Cal Fire had been dispatched to a subject having a seizure, but upon arrival found two adults appearing to suffer from overdoses and a deceased child inside the home."

Firefighters had been called to the scene, but on discovering the body of the dead child, called the Beaumont police. While both adults were rushed to the hospital immediately, only one of them survived, despite all efforts made to save her life after she was found unresponsive. The statement continues, "An adult male was transported to an area hospital and is listed in critical condition. An adult female also in the home was found unresponsive and was given CPR. She was transported and later declared deceased shortly after arrival at the ER."

The police, on finding the body of the 4-year-old girl in the apartment, began initial investigations, and are currently awaiting official autopsy reports for more information. It is unclear what the relationship between the girl and the two adults were. After examining the decomposition on the body, initial investigations have led the police to conclude that the girl had been dead for at least two days. Police found that the girl's corpse "had numerous bruises throughout her body," and "appeared severely malnourished."

No other information about the trio found in that California apartment has yet been released. Police have not released the identities of anyone involved either, and have said that they will not do so until the next of kin has been notified. They also request anyone with information to contact them at the police department's phone number, writing, "If anyone has information about this case, please contact the On-Duty Watch Commander at 951-769-8500."

According to Marcedes Cashmer, a spokeswoman for the Beaumont Police Department, there have been no arrests made yet, and the police are currently waiting for autopsy results. She was also unable to identify where in the apartment the child's body was found. All that is known for sure is that the police have deemed the child's death suspicious and that the investigation into her death is underway.
