DENVER, COLORADO: Brennan Shoykhet met his wife Emily Balch's friends in the latest episode of 'Married At First Sight' Season 17.

However, the conversation took an explosive turn which affected Brennan and Emily's future.

Emily and Brennan threw a housewarming party and invited her friends Kiara and Alex. However, they later pulled Brennan aside as they wanted to know his real intentions of being on the Lifetime show.

Alex and Kiara wanted to make sure that he was there to support Emily. They’ve already spotted some warning signs, such as when he didn’t help her move her stuff into the apartment.

Kiara asked, "You're married to one of my best friends So you are like in my mind it's like who are you why are you here?" Brennan calmly responded, "To me what answer are you looking for I'm just curious because I told you I'm here because I felt like something was missing and I'm here because I want a romantic partner that I can do life with."

Brennan tried to impress them noting that he could not be the perfect person but he has been trying to be more open and emotionally available for Emily.

However, Emily's friends were still unsure about Brennan if he had the emotional capacity to deal with Emily.

The conversation got worse as Alex and Kiara continued to press Brennan, and he got defensive, especially when Kiara said that he was miserable filming the show.

Brennan wondered if Emily had told them something that made them 'come in hot' which they denied.

Emily Balch apologizes to Brennan Shoykhet for her friends' behavior

Emily Balch's friends Alex and Kiara had a slew of questions that offended Brennan Shoykhet. He felt attacked and admitted to Emily that the conversation with her friends didn't go well.

Brennan said he was defending himself, not being defensive. He admitted, "I wasn’t going to let them attack me and come at my character without defending myself."

However, Emily showered support for Brennan and apologized on behalf of her friends. She said, "I think it’s because they care,” she says. “But if that came off in a bad way, I apologize."

Brennan was touched by his wife's reaction and admitted, "Emily was very supportive. I give her a lot of credit for how she’s acted... I appreciated her having my back."

Did 'MAFS' star Brennan Shoykhet move in with Emily Balch?

Brennan Shoykhet and Emily Balch had a great start but the romance seemingly fizzled out for a while after their honeymoon.

As the couple returned from Mexico, they had to move in together but Brennan asked to 'reconvene' for a few days.

He also noted that there was something about Emily that he didn’t find attractive. Brennan's decision not to move in together baffled Emily.

However, after a therapy session with Pastor Cal Roberson, Brenna finally agreed to move in together and decided to make efforts to make their marriage work.

Emily and Brenna got settled in their apartment, but moving in seemingly also didn't go very smoothly. Brennan was immediately turned off by the literal cartloads of items she hauled into their space.

While referencing Emily's admittedly lackadaisical approach to her finances, he joked, "Now I understand where your money goes."
