Woman gang-raped, forced to drink acid in front of her two-year-old daughter by ex-husband and his relatives in revenge attack
A woman from Madhya Pradesh, India was reportedly forced by her ex-husband to drink acid in front of her young daughter and gang-raped by her nephews. The unnamed 28-year-old woman who hails from Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, was physically abused by her ex-husband in front of their child during the incident which occurred on October 7.
The attack was allegedly in retaliation for her leaving him around a year ago and getting re-married. Four of the five alleged assailants have reportedly been arrested by police officers.
According to local sources, the accused have been identified as the woman's ex-husband, his sister, her husband, and their two sons. The victim has since been admitted to a hospital.
The victim had reportedly been on her way to a tailor shop with her two-year-old daughter when she was kidnapped by the men. The woman was reportedly taken in a vehicle to a farm in Kharchod where her husband's relatives allegedly proceeded to gang-rape her.
The unnamed victim was also allegedly beaten up by her ex-husband. Her former spouse reportedly burnt her with a cigarette and tried to force her to drink acid in front of her two-year-old daughter, which led to the woman spitting up the substance and losing consciousness.
The 28-year-old woman and her daughter were reportedly then taken to Tal region of Madhya Pradesh and thrown out of the car on to the road, after which her attackers fled the scene. According to the Daily Mail, the woman married her ex-husband around eight years ago and had two children with him, before she decided to leave him about a year ago.
The victim was found in her weakened state and taken to the hospital by police officers. An FIR has been filed in the case and the investigation is currently ongoing. The woman's condition is presently unknown.
