Tonight's episode of 'Madam Secretary' opens the discourse on the ethical usage of smart weapons — or Artificial Intelligence run robots in the name of weaponry when it comes to targeting a nation's most notorious enemies.

As our newly appointed Madam President, aka Tea Leoni's exemplary Elizabeth McCord, feels torn over the prospect of using smart weapons to target the man responsible for killing Peter and other members of the UN Security Council back when she was still a secretary, fans come together to praise her imminent decision in opting to act otherwise.

The sixth and final season's episode three saw Liz and her team discuss with Henry the prospect of sending robots to kill the men responsible for the mass murder of her Council.

Henry argues that robots aren't the best option because as opposed to humans — they can't tell when their target is surrendering. Sadly, Henry is left alone in his stand — thereby leaving Liz torn over what should be the right thing to do.

Eventually, Liz decides to go with the SEAL team, and even though they get their man, several SEAL members die on assignment.

When word gets out that the bloodloss could have been avoided by smart weapons, Liz not only addresses the martyrs with praise but also claims that if humanity gives way to AI, all scope for freedom and scrutiny would be eroded - something that fans seem to agree with.

Taking to Twitter about the impeccable timing of the episode and Liz's decision and its reasoning, one user shared: "'We must not consign our fate to algorithms' — Tea Leoni as #PresidentMcCord has the political will to support a ban on fully autonomous weapons, now which real-life leaders are going to step up?"

Another fan chimed in saying: "Today's episode in Madam Secretary tackled the morality of AI in warfare. Our world is changing and so does the landscape of warfare, AI should not be contention between morality and rationality but rather the question we should be asking--- are we changing for the better?"
