Machine Gun Kelly's 'In These Walls' steals hearts, fans want a mixtape of his quarantine songs
Machine Gun Kelly has dropped his new song, 'In These Walls', accompanied with a music video while in quarantine and fans hope he puts it in an album.
The musician and actor tweeted the video with the caption, "This one is called 'In These Walls' we sampled a PVRIS vocal #LockdownSessions Day 19." Kelly's song features the lyrics of the chorus from PVRIS' song 'My House', which refers to being haunted by the memory of someone you love to the point that it messes your mind up until you find the strength to remove them from your system.
Kelly has previously teased this song in an interview on Hot 97, and fans were quick to make the connection, tweeting "He finally did it." In the interview, Kelly appears unsure of whether the song would ever be released, but teases the first few lines of lyrics that read, "Well, you said I never wrote a song for you / So I hope this one is haunting you"
Fans are already showering the song and video with love. One fan tweeted, "I’ve been laying here trying so f*cking hard to fall asleep but then I heard the song 'In These Walls' that @machinegunkelly posted to his IGTV & now I’m just laying here w it on repeat staring at the ceiling & lookin like —>," pointing to the emoji for 'mind blown'. The user adds, "WHEW SH*T BOIII it. is. so. f*cking. good."
Another stated, "@machinegunkelly glad to see you killin it with the versatile style"
Another fan asks, "Can @machinegunkelly release all these quarantine jams on a mixtape after it’s all done for the people," in reference to the stream of music Kelly has been blessing his fans with from quarantine.
The latest quarantine tune from Kelly even managed to convert some non-fans into listeners, with one tweeting "I'm really impressed with this song, never thought I would like an mgk song but recently it's all really good."
The song was so well received it managed to get to the number one trending spot on YouTube. The artist later tweeted, "#1!!!! WTF," adding "from my bedroom," along with an emoji representing a shrug in reference to the fact that the video features Kelly recording in his bedroom.
He also added, "there was a second verse on this btw...but we decided it wasn’t right for the times," to which fans responded with shock, and with some hoping to hear a full version someday. One fan said, "It was the perfect amount and mix of everything, truly.. but now that you’ve said this I’m anxious for the finished painting. Thank u for being a light," while others joked, "So we'll get the full version, in like another five years, right???" Some asked the real questions, "This gonna be on streaming sites?"
Kelly is gearing up to release his fifth album, 'Tickets to My Downfall', sometime this year which includes the previously released single, 'Why Are You Here' and 'Bullets With Names', featuring Young Thug, RJMrLA and Lil Duke. The album will also feature a track called 'Acting Like That' featuring Yungblud as well as another track featuring Travis Barker.
It is unclear if 'In These Walls' is also a part of the upcoming album, but given the demand for it to be uploaded to streaming sites, it might just be! Unless Kelly does actually put out an EP full of his quarantine tracks, that is.
