'Timeless': Lucy made the ultimate sacrifice by letting Wyatt go, a look back at their relationship
Let's take a look back at Lucy and Wyatt's love story on 'Timeless'. And, how Lucy sacrifices her love for him by letting him go when Wyatt's wife comes back from the dead.
NBC's 'Timeless' is going to be premiering in two days and fans are still disappointed that the show is not renewed and that no other streaming giant has come forward to pick it up. 'Timeless' was first canceled after season 1, three days later it was renewed again for a season 2 and it then it was canceled yet again. Now with the season 2 finale airing soon the show still isn't renewed. Fans are hoping the two-hour finale on December 20 will give the story the closure they are looking for. But they aren't giving up yet and are still campaigning for the show to be renewed.
While everyone gets ready with their popcorn for the reboot, let's take a look back at Lucy and Wyatt's love story, and how Lucy sacrifices her love for him by letting him go when Wyatt's wife comes back from the dead. Though the two-hour finale promises to bring closure to the love triangle between Lucy and Wyatt, the concentration will be on bringing Rufus back.
When you love someone, let them go and if they belong to you, they will come back. Lucy followed that very theory when it came to making her decision and decided to let him go. In an interview with Hypable, Abigail Spencer who plays the role of Lucy revealed how she made the decision to let Wyatt go. "The great thing about great love, in a great love story, the moment comes when one character finally realizes it. The other person’s been holding out hope, and just when that person lets that person go, they show up. So… Lucy had really come to terms with letting Wyatt go."
Spencer also revealed that when Wyatt's wife came back from the dead, it came with no doubt that he would choose her only. "I mean he had chosen his wife, which she totally understands. His wife came back from the dead. There’s no situation where Lucy was gonna put up a fight about it." Though there are much more interesting scenes in the series, they also showcase how true love is not something easy to achieve and that there are sacrifices that need to be made.
And, eventually, as time passes by you realize that it is time to move on and not hold hope and that is exactly what Lucy did. She said: "She has been working to get herself into a better place and not holding out hope for him… it’s bittersweet. It’s like, 'Oh my gosh I’m hearing everything I want to hear, and yet I don’t know where I’m at with it anymore because I had to let it go.'"
