'Lucifer' Season 5 is dropping on August 21 and fans across the world were ecstatic. The makers had said that this would be the final season for the show that survived purely because of the love that the show received from fans. Fox had canceled the show after the third season, and it was after fans signed petitions, and supported the show that it was picked by Netflix for a new season. However, when season 5 was announced, Netflix and the cast members associated with it had said that this would be the final season.

Turns out it is not! On Tuesday, the makers announced that the show was now renewed for season 6 and this time, it really is the final season. Starring Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar and Lauren German as Detective Chloe Decker, the show portrays the journey of Lucifer aka the God who rules the underworld on Earth. He meets Chloe, works with her on her cases, and in the process falls in love with her. The unapologetic approach to portraying characters' flaws -- especially that of Lucifer and his friend from the underworld, Mazikeen, was one of the things that fans loved about the show.

The announcement was made on Twitter and it said, "The devil made us do it. #lucifer will return for a sixth and final season. like, FINAL final." Writer and executive producer of the show, Chris Rafferty wrote on Instagram, "IT’S OFFICIAL! Our epic 5th and 'Final Season' that is almost done shooting (damn you coronavirus) has turned out so next level that, in a plot twist none of us originally thought possible, Netflix ordered one more (and super final) season. Maybe you’ve been hearing the rumors, but now that the legal stuff is done, we can finally confirm that it’s true: #Lucifer has now risen from the dead more times than Jesus! #takeTHATjesus #LuciferSeason6 #TheFinalFinalSeason #theendforrealthistime #BUTFIRSTstaytunedforSeason5."

Fans also agreed as one of them noted, "So, #Lucifer has been resurrected more times than Jesus I guess." The fan also shared the GIF of Tom Ellis to go with this. Some fans have also used this as an opportunity to post thirst traps of Ellis on Twitter and are super excited to see Lucifer and Chloe get more time together.

Another fan shared one of Lucifer's famous lines, "I'm a giver, dammit," and wrote, "Hell yes, he is, because he's giving us another season [smiling face with horns].
Can you believe that after the cancellation after S3 we can now look forward to S6? This is so amazing."
