While Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) and Chloe (Laura German) buried the hatchet in the previous episode, there was one person who had received the shock of his life. Dan (Kevin Alejandro) had been trying to help Amenadiel (DB Woodside) and Lucifer calm baby Charlie and put him to sleep and at this time, he saw something that he shouldn't have and as a result, he becomes another target for Michael to use and manipulate. It is clear that Michael wants Lucifer to lose control and cause a mess that is bigger than the rebellion because of the way he has been continually targeting his brother.

Michael began with Chloe, managed to successfully draw in even Linda Martin's fear of ending up as a bad mother, and even went as far as trying to use his brother Amenadiel's fears too. Now, it seems to be Dan's turn, so Michael helps Dan find the truth about Lucifer. He then uses the prejudice that has been built around Lucifer as a fallen angel to get Dan to act out against Lucifer. He is given a chance to make Chloe and Trixie safe again, and Dan who believes that the two will continue to be in danger if they continued their relationship with Lucifer, decides to take it.

He decides to visit Lucifer at his home and ends up shooting him, only to be shocked to find out that Lucifer is not vulnerable around Chloe anymore. While Lucifer is extremely excited to find this out, Chloe is shocked but also suspicious of why Lucifer is not vulnerable anymore. She wonders if Lucifer had now decided not to be vulnerable around her anymore and if yes, why? This also reminds her that Lucifer is yet to really confess how he feels about her. While she had said that she loved him before he left to take the throne of Hell, all that Lucifer had said was that she was the one.

Even now, when things seemed to be going really well between the two, he hadn't expressed his feelings for her. Chloe struggles to accept this, but for the time being, she decides to bury it because there is something else that has been worrying the couple. The loss of Lucifer's Mojo. Right after having slept together, playfully, Chloe asks Lucifer what he desires and it ends up working. It looks like Lucifer's mojo has been transformed to Chloe while he is left with no power.

Having experienced what it felt like to be powerless, Chloe decides to entertain Lucifer. She goes for couple's therapy, tries to teach Lucifer how to share and yet, all this while the only thing that Lucifer fixates on is the absence of his mojo. So while Chloe gets busy investigating a serial murder case, Lucifer decides to distract himself by coming up with different ways to exact revenge from Dan. He even goes as far as to plant a snake in Dan's drawer and it is Chloe who stops him from doing so.

Over the course of the investigation, Lucifer realizes that he feels useless to Chloe without his power and a lot about his value in this relationship, at least according to Lucifer is dependent on him having his mojo. He also learns that Chloe is unable to use the mojo on anyone else except him. She seems capable of finding Lucifer's deepest, darkest desires, but not anyone else's. So as Chloe and the other cops believe that the serial murder mystery has been wrapped after a middle-aged man is caught red-handed, Lucifer buries himself in coming up with the perfect plan.

It is at this time that Chloe's suspicions regarding the real killer behind the serial murder take possession of her. She tries to tell Lucifer about it, but the man is too busy distracting himself so Chloe decides to investigate it on her own. She finds a lead and while she shares it with Lucifer over a call, she gets kidnapped. Lucifer, hears all of this take place over a call and flies down to check on her, only to find her gone. Did the real killer take her after Chloe found out the truth or is this Michael's next step in his grand plan?

'Lucifer' Season 5 Part 1 is scheduled to release on August 21 and can be streamed on Netflix.
