Los Angeles Lakers' whopping 111-88 win over Portland Trail Blazers was just what the doctor ordered. Excuse us for using one of the most cliched phrases, but couldn't resist after watching LeBron & Co coast to a win and level the series. Anthony Davis led from the front for the Lakers with 31 points and 11 rebounds, while LeBron chipped in with 10 points, seven assists, six rebounds and two steals. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope played his part with 16 points and two rebounds.

The best part of all has been a huge improvement in shooting 3's. They netted 14-38 of them when compared to the five of 32 three-pointers in Game 1. What was pleasing to watch was the way Davis went about getting those points. That LA owns the paint is no surprise, they asserted that with Davis shooting 16 of them from that area. In LeBron James, they still have the greatest who after taking quite a beating from the Trail Blazers in the opener controlled the narrative beautifully.

It is no surprise that LeBron has been a tad out of sorts this season, but on Thursday, he showed glimpses of returning to form by nailing Gary Trent Jr. Portland is in trouble. Damian Lillard's dislocated index finger casts doubt on his third game appearance. Should he miss that game, it will be a major blow for the Blazers as he's been their go-to man. Lillard may have said "Oh, I'm playing" according to ESPN when asked about the third game, but the Blazers will be aware of the risks that pose.

Lillard scored 18 points on 6-of-14 shooting in 30 minutes before injuring himself. Danny Green is still a bit of concern as he's looked jaded this season becoming the butt of all trolls and memes on social media with every passing game. However, this win gives the Lakers a chance to gain momentum and take control of the series.

Personally, this was the first time in the season that it felt like seeing the Lakers in their groove. Agreed they still have some chinks in the armor, but this could be the start of a winning journey. Game 3 between the Lakers and the Blazers will take place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Do you think this is the start the Lakers will capitalize on?
