Lori Loughlin is scared of becoming infected with coronavirus after she begins serving her yet-to-be-determined prison term for her involvement in the highly publicized college admissions scandal, according to sources.

The actress, 55, is “scared to death of catching COVID-19, as the virus is ravaging the federal prisons in California,” a source told Us Weekly. A judge is yet to determine how much time she actually ends up spending behind bars. More than 3,200 inmates and over 560 staff members at California prisons have tested positive for COVID-19, according to CDCR statistics. The state prisons have decided to release up to 3,500 more inmates to prevent further spread of COVID-19

Loughlin, in the meantime, has “expressed remorse” for her actions. “She’s met with the official who’s preparing her sentencing report, which the judge will use for guidance as to how long she’ll serve,” the insider said.

We previously reported that Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli, both of whom pleaded guilty to paying $500,000 to get their daughters recruited to the University of Southern California, are hoping that they would not be jailed at the same time as they want at least one parent to be available to be able to provide "emotional support" to their daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella.

The famous couple pleaded guilty to their role in the college admissions scandal on May 21, after more than a year of maintaining their innocence. The following day, the couple made their plea official via a video conference. According to their plea deal, Loughlin is supposed to spend two months in prison while Giannulli will spend five. Now both of them are hoping that the presiding judge will agree to grant them prison terms at different time periods as coinciding sentences will leave both their daughters, who are in their 20s, without the support of parents in their life.

“Lori and Moss don’t want to serve their prison sentences at the same time. Among the reasons, even though their daughters are adults, Lori wants one parent to be free to provide emotional support to the girls,” a source told Us Weekly last month. “Lori’s concern all along has been Isabella and Olivia Jade.”

The 'Fuller House' actress is currently “preparing to be interviewed by the Bureau of Prisons for the pre-sentencing report which will be given to the judge to be used as guidance for formal sentencing," the publication added. In addition to her jail term, she was supposed to pay a $150,000 fine, serve two years of supervised release, and complete 100 hours of community service. Her husband plea deal additionally included $250,000 fine, two years of supervised release, and 250 hours of community service.

The duo changed their plea less than a month after a judge rejected their petition to drop the charges against them or against the other parents involved. Loughlin and Giannulli are supposed to be sentenced on August 21. According to an insider, the couple's daughters were "proud" of their parents for accepting the plea agreement. “It will be surreal for Isabella and Olivia to visit them behind bars, but this is a much better outcome than what they envisioned,” the source told the outlet. “As embarrassing and awful as it’s been, Olivia and Isabella still love their mom deeply, and it pains them to see her suffer.”
