'Long Way Up' Episode 10: Masaya volcano and Granada's salad dressings highlight the penultimate chapter

Spoilers for 'Long Way Up' Episode 10

With one more episode to go for what has been a rather fun and picturesque travel series, the audiece gets a chance to see the Masaya volcano up close. Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman are 3,881 miles away from Los Angeles and the episode opens with them riding through the sleek streets of Guanacaste, Costa Rica. To add to the excitement, the show also introduces us to Ewan's daughter, Jamyan McGregor, and the father-daughter duo are lovable to watch.

The pair link up at Playa Hermosa where the local producer, Rene shows them the Masaya volcano. The elevation is at 635 m (2,083 ft)  and the lava was last seen in the '80s. According to Rene, the lava was back six months ago and it bubbles at approximately 1,200 degrees celsius. It comprises sensors that would trigger a warning. The red lava is breathtaking and scary at the same time. Jamyan adds to the fun by saying the lava resembles Ewan's face when he is angry.

Up next, they head to Granada and a restaurant called Banana Burgers welcomes them with an assortment of fresh dressings. Amos, the chef explains they're made fresh and are free of preservatives. All the natural ingredients go into the making of the dressings and they look absolutely scrumplicious. After nine episodes of hard riding, tough challenges in the form bad weather and electricity issues, Boorman and McGregor seem to be cruising across the country in their electric Harleys.

There's a tinge of sadness when you realize the show is coming to an end. It has been 10 weeks of great content and in a situation travel is a risky option, sitting back and enjoying some of the best views the world has to offer is a comfort. With one more episode to go, we'd probably say goodbyes will form a major storyline in the final episode. The first chapter began with footage of the ride plans coming to fruition, it's only fair it ends with a close look at how it ends for the hosts.
