Liverpool start off their title defense on Saturday, September 12 against Leeds United who made a comeback after being relegated in the 2003-04 season. Their last league game at Anfield was October 25th, 2003 which ended in a 3-1 defeat. This time around, they will be looking to put the Reds through their paces when they travel to Anfield again. The simplest question is: Can Liverpool defend their title? Too early to ask, but it all starts off with how they approach their first match of the season.

Time

The match is slated to start off at 12:30 pm ET on Saturday, September 12. 2020

Venue

The teams will take on each other at Anfield, Liverpool's home turf.

Where to watch?

Fans can watch the match live on NBCSN.

How to live stream?

The Premier League matches can be live streamed on NBC's new streaming service, Peacock and on NBCSports.com. Peacock will showcase 175 live matches throughout the season. In addition, it will also have full-game replays available on-demand for all slated 380 matches of the 2020-21 season. These replays will be available after 9 p.m. ET the day of the match, according to Cnet. Fans can even watch the game on fuboTV.

Pre-match buzz

The reigning champions have a few issues at hand. For starters, Kostas Tsimikas, the newly-signed left-back tested positive for COVID-19 and is under isolation. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been ruled out after injuring himself during their training camp in Austria. Leeds United manager, Marcelo Bielsa has a fit squad at his disposal.

"Liverpool are a champion with a consistent style of play, without a doubt one of the best teams in the world," Biesla said, according to SB Nation. "They have a defined system with very good players. It’s the best league in the world and it requires you to be at the highest level."

"It’s difficult to [say] how we are going to adjust to the Premier League,” he added “We prepared for this, now we need to show it on the pitch. We have been forming a group for some time with players that can play at a higher level," the manager added considering Leeds are back in top flight after 16 seasons.

Who will win?

While Liverpool come in as favorites, Bielsa's men have worked way too hard to claw their way back in. What better way to start by registering a win over the Reds? Liverpool will have the home ground advantage and they seldom drop points, but this a David vs Goliath clash. We still back Liverpool to win this opener.
