Keeping aside the fact that Liverpool was mauled 7-2 by Aston Villa last week, their transfer window signings make the loss an aberration. Such was the impressive outing they had last season that not many thought Jurgen Klopp would tinker with the team structure and add in new faces. However, the manager strengthened the squad by adding some quality players to lend more depth to the squad. Left-back Kostas Tsimikas came in to support Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson.

Thiago Alcantara's accurate passing makes him a valuable asset, but their best asset has to be Diogo Jota, whom they acquired from the Wolves. The team had their eyes on the Jota for the last couple of years. He's a versatile player with extreme pace and the skill to play different positions and this would have prompted manager, Jurgen Klopp to make the move and that means Jota will be facing some stiff competition from the likes of the current heavyweights, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, for a place in the starting side.

There is no doubt Jota is an impressive striker as he's netted a career-best 17 goals in his first year on loan with the Wolves. If consistency and determination were the hallmarks, his ability to read the game and play across the front line just adds to his impressive CV. Quite simply, while all eyes will be on Alcantaraz, there is no denying that Jota is as integral to the Reds setup. Here's a quick look at who's in for the side and the list odf players moving out:

IN: Kostas Tsimikas (Olympiacos), Thiago Alcantara (Bayern Munich), Diogo Jota (Wolves, £41m).

OUT: Adam Lallana (Brighton, free), Daniel Atherton (Released), Pedro Chirivella (Nantes, free), Nathaniel Clyne (Released), Shamal George (Released), Jack Walls (Released), Dejan Lovren (FC Zenit, undisclosed), Morgan Boyes (Fleetwood, loan), Kai McKenzie-Lyle (Cambridge, free), Sheyi Ojo (Cardiff City, loan), Isaac Christie-Davies (Barnsley, free), Tony Gallacher (Toronto FC, loan), Ki-Jana Hoever (Wolves, £9m), Kamil Grabara (AGF Aarhus, loan), Loris Karius (Union Berlin, loan), Ovie Ejaria (Reading, loan), Rhian Brewster (Sheffield United, £23.5m).

The glaring loss speaks volumes about Liverpool's defense which raised eyebrows in their close-contested 4-3 win against Leeds United. They did get the better of Chelsea and Arsenal but lost to the Gunners at the Europa League and then to Aston Villa. Their next fixture is against Everton who sits at the top of the table with four wins in their four games while Klopp's men aim to climb the rungs more quickly. That said, the Reds are one of those teams that made good use of their transfer window.

What are your thoughts on Liverpool's signings during the transfer window?
