DUXBURY, MASSACHUSETTS: The friend of a mother, who is accused of killing her three children, has spoken in favor of her and shed light on how she was very different from her current portrayal. Lindsay Clancy's pal, Brittany Jeane Lyman, recently took to Facebook to show the world a kind and powerful side of the “killer” mother, who allegedly fatally strangled her three children, daughter Cora, 5, son Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan.

While the older two children died on January 24 immediately after the attack, the youngest one tragically died on January 27. Lindsay also reportedly tried to kill herself but she survived. It has been said that currently, she is admitted to a hospital in Boston. The 32-year-old is also facing multiple charges, including two counts of murder, three counts of strangulation or suffocation, and three counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

How is postpartum psychosis different from postpartum depression? Lindsay Clancy case shines light on rare disorder

'Killer moms' like Lindsay Clancy are ‘unlike other murderers’ says lawyer who defended Andrea Yates

‘Her message is too important’

Not much detail has currently been out about the heartwrenching case, but it has been speculated that Lindsay was suffering from a rare disorder, called postpartum psychosis (PPP), which occurs after childbirth. Since then, a lot of people have come out in her support, including her husband Patrick Clancy.

Now, one of her friends, Lyman, has also backed her and posted a letter on the social media site, which she received from the accused years ago “when I was expecting my son and about to become a new mom.” The handwritten note said, “The biggest congratulations on your sweet baby boy! Be ready for the wildest ride of your life — motherhood. It is the most profoundly challenging yet deeply fulfilling experience you will ever have.”

The letter also stated, “Know that everything is a phase. When things get tough, know that the phase will pass and before you know it you’ll be on to a new phase. Enjoy the fun, precious, joyous moments because there are so many of those too!” before adding, “You will naturally take beautiful care of your baby but always remember to also take care of yourself. Remember who you were before you become a mother. I am unbelievingly happy for you and always here for you!!”

In the caption, Lyman wrote, “It was a gut punch to find this letter in my drawer the other day. To see this beautiful handwriting that I remember so well from our high school days. The past 7 days have been heart-wrenching to say the least, but the warmth that I felt while reading this just has to be shared with someone else."

She further continued, "Her message is too important. I don’t have the words to adequately describe the kind of mother she was to her three babies, or the kind of friend she has been for the past 20 years, so the easiest thing to do is share hers.”

She added, “Her words are so beautiful and embody the true spirit of motherhood. I always went to her for advice during the pregnancy uncertainties, the postpartum isolation, and the scary parenting firsts. She knew it all. She knew the roller coaster all too well. She is pure light, and was still ‘all consumed’ by an inexplicable darkness. I know the true Lindsay. Her husband, her family, her friends, her beautiful children. We all know the true Lindsay. Amidst the terrible things that have been and will be said about her. I want everyone to know the true Lindsay.”

The friend concluded that “we need to do better than a pamphlet in the hospital. We need to do better than one 6-week check-up and one questionnaire. We need to do better for moms.”

‘I am crushed’

Lyman’s post has received a lot of emotional and positive comments. One user said, “I saw this post and was just brought to tears by the whole story. It hits so close to home and I just cannot imagine her pain and the pain of all involved. Praying so hard for her family and for you and all her friends." While another wrote, “I am crushed.”

A user shared, “So devastating for everyone involved. Mental illness is real so real it’s not even explainable. I am so very sorry for your broken heart and the loss everyone has been through. I love you and I am praying for you and her family.” Another user commented, “I also know the real Lindsay. And reading this and hearing it in her voice brought me so much peace. She is nothing but love and kindness.. the biggest cheerleader.” “Thank you for sharing this. I hope you, her friends and family all know that she has (and you guys) an army of Mothers and families who have empathy and love for her. Sending you so much love,” the third one added.
