Lily James sparks engagement rumors after flaunting a diamond ring at the BAFTAs
Lily James and Matt Smith might be ready to get hitched, after she was spotted at the BAFTA Awards with a diamond on her left hand.
Lily James showed up to the BAFTA Awards on Sunday night, and the whole world couldn't stop looking at the ginormous sparkler on her left hand.
If rumors are to be believed, the 28-year-old actress is now engaged to long-time beau, Matt Smith, 35, who she met while filming the box-office bomb Pride and Prejudice and Zombies back in 2014.
The two have managed to keep their relationship private despite appearing in a number of high-profile roles across their careers, with Lily having played Lady Rose in Downton Abbey, the titular character in 2015's Cinderella, and Elizabeth Layton, Winston Churchill's secretary, in Darkest Hour, which she showed up at the BAFTA Awards to promote on Sunday.
Lily has been busy for months filming the sequel to Mamma Mia! all the way in Croatia, in which she plays a younger version of Meryl Streep's character, Donna Sheridan. The sequel, set to be released in 2018, is titled Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.
Matt rose to notoriety for being the youngest actor to play the doctor, taking on the role of the Eleventh Doctor in Doctor Who, and recently playing a young Prince Philip in The Crown.
He briefly dated model Daisy Lowe, daughter of Pearl Lowe and Gavin Rossdale, before breaking it off in 2013.
Lily's and Matt's first public appearance together was at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014, but both of them denied any rumors that they were dating and continued to do so despite being captured on camera making out later that year.
They have since attended many events as a couple, but they have preferred to keep the details of their relationship private, and there were only rumors of an impending marriage, until Sunday, when Lily flashed her new jewel to the cameras at the BAFTA Awards.
