If you ever need an example of a toxic relationship, look no further than Shawn and Destinie from 'Life After Lockup'. Destinie, who is out on parole, caught the eye of Shawn, a resident of Nevada, Las Vegas. Shawn is so smitten by Destinie that he has made some rather questionable decisions to help and support her. For the longest time fans felt sorry for Shawn watching him get exploited by Destinie, who seems to be more interested in her boyfriend's bank balance than their relationship.

Although Destinie isn't invested enough in their relationship, for Shawn she is the perfect woman for him. He was so keen on making her a part of his life that he not only forced her into meeting his six children but also his former partner, Kelly. Destinie was obviously not keen on meeting any of them and was upset over the fact that he was still on good terms with his previous partner.

So, one fine day she left Shawn's house without telling him, she just took away his credit card, his car, and all her stuff, and left. When he discovered that she was gone, he tried reaching out to her because he was worried. He was concerned for her safety and well-being and was nervous that she might not attend her court hearing, which would eventually lead her back to prison. So Shawn kept calling her non-stop and texting her all day. But she didn't respond to it. When she eventually did reach out to him, it was to ask him for money.

Instead of confronting her for walking out on him with his belongings, he expressed his love to her and transferred the money she requested to her bank account. When fans saw that Shawn wasn't reporting the theft of his car or credit card, but was instead professing his love to the person behind it, they began slamming him.
