'Love & Hip Hop: New York': Safaree and Erica's security crew gets into scuffle with stranger over Nicki Minaj
'Love & Hip Hop: New York' couple Erica Mena and Safaree Samuels were in for a rude shock last week when they were walking the streets of Brooklyn, New York.
As they strolled around the area, the couple met two girls, one of whom yelled: "OMG Nicki Minaj" pointing at Erica. This put Safaree off who confronted the girls for being disrespectful towards them when a man intervened and schooled the rapper for talking to the girls incorrectly.
Before he could finish his pitch, Safaree's security personnel apparently attacked the "unidentified" man, and witnesses say even tried to pin him down on the ground, The Shade Room reported.
The publication even shared a video to the spat, where onlookers are heard identifying Safaree and Erica. "Why walk up on her and call her that woman’s name when they’re both in happy relationships? Y’all need to learn to leave ppl tf alone," a fan wrote.
Another one expressed: "This could have all been avoided if everyone would have just minded their own damn business." "But why even bother people? I hate when an antagonizer turns victim. Keep your mouth shut, leave people alone," a user observed.
So, what's the context here? What's the big deal? Safaree used to date Nicki Minaj, but they didn't end well. There were ego wars, very bad ones.
Even though they split long ago, the parting has left indelible marks, which continues to impact his current relationship with fiancée Erica. In a tell-all interview on a radio show, the artiste elaborated on how he wasn't treated with respect any longer.
"Everyone around her works for her, you know? So it got the point where it was like, I'm your man. I'm who you go to sleep with every night. I'm who you wake up with every morning. And it got to the point where I was being treated like an employee, instead of like her man," he was quoted Safaree as saying.
Erica too never let it go and had once allegedly threatened to leak Nicki's nudes. The situation spiraled out of control when multiple media houses began sharing their stories, only to enrage Nicki's fan base that promised to return the favor.
Before it could escalate, the reality TV star blamed the media for making such unfounded claims. In other news, Safaree and Erica are expecting a baby any month now and are currently seen on 'Love & Hip Hop: New York'.
