In the light of Saturday’s attacks on Trump supporters in Washington, Fox News host Laura Ingraham warned President-elect Joe Biden that if he chooses to ignore the voice of the conservatives, he will only contribute to the polarization of the United States even further. “The pro-Trump throngs didn’t show up in D.C. on Saturday because of conservative media,” she said on 'The Ingraham Angle'. “They showed up knowing they could be physically attacked for doing so because they love America. And lying about them, insulting them, ignoring them will only incite more violence and more resentment and opposition.”

The former vice-president has also toyed with the idea of imposing a nationwide lockdown in wake of cases and hospitalizations increasing due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. However, this would mean that businesses would get boarded up which could have a debilitating effect on the already struggling economy and rising unemployment rates in the country. With national unification and any economic recovery at stake, Ingraham said that a large percentage of Americans were concerned about Biden's presidency because they were afraid that their needs would be ignored, especially with his campaign’s plan for a capitalist “reset."

“Biden loves to talk about dignity and unity and respect,” she said. “But the time for talk is over and the time for action is here. Because if Biden really wanted to unite the country, he wouldn’t even be entertaining the idea of destroying our current economic recovery with another devastating lockdown.”

Ingraham urged Biden to condemn the violent actions of Antifa and Black Lives Matter protesters as well as address the concerns of millions of Americans regarding election integrity if he really wanted to unite the country. “He has done none of these things,” she said. “He still hopes this movement is just going to go away, but that’s not going to happen. All Americans deserve to be heard, to be seen and to be safe,” Ingraham concluded. “It’s the least a government can do for its citizens."

Regardless of the allegations, after clinching victory in the 2020 presidential elections on November 7, released a statement on Twitter within minutes, thanking America for choosing him and adding that he will be a president for all Americans, including those who did not vote for him. "America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country. The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not. I will keep the faith that you have placed in me," Biden, set to become the 46th president of the United States, tweeted.

He reiterated his stance during his victory speech on the same night, saying that he would like to be a leader who “seeks not to divide, but to unify." “I sought this office to restore the soul of America,” Biden said in a prime-time victory speech not far from his Delaware home, “and to make America respected around the world again and to unite us here at home.”

“It’s time to put away the harsh rhetoric, to lower the temperature, to see each other again, to listen to each other again, to make progress, we must stop treating our opponents as our enemy,” he said. “We are not enemies. We are Americans.”
