Katie Taylor is keen on making amends in the rematch against Delfine Persoon when the two face off in the WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO world women's lightweight titles where she hopes to fend off the Persoon threat on August 22. There has been a lot of noise ahead of the bout especially after the events of last year. Here's a quick refresher— Taylor won in June 2019 against Persoon by earning 34 controversial points as the judges' card read the 95-95 96-94 96-94, making it a majority points win.

This left Persoon broken while Taylor's win was termed fortunate by critics. This time, there's a chance to put this all to rest when she knocks gloves against an equally- amped up Persoon. Their clash will serve as the chief undercard fight for the heavyweight challenge between Dillian Whyte and Alexander Povetkin. Here's a quick primer ahead of the fight.

Pre-buzz around the bout

Talking about the events that unfolded last year, Taylor was keen to put the critics away. "It has been hanging over my head over the last year," she told BBC. "I'm looking forward to putting on a more dominant performance and shutting up everyone that has criticized me over the last year.

"I did watch the fight back and it was obviously a very close fight. That's why there is a rematch. I definitely couldn't have given her more than five rounds, so for people to say it was a disgraceful decision or it was a robbery, is a disgrace in itself," she added. Taylor comes with a 15-0-0 record (Six KPs) while Persoon has a 44-2-0 to her name with 18 KOs. It might have ended in tears for Persoon, however, there is a chance this time to turn things around.

Who will win?

Expect Katie Taylor to make a dent and prove her critics wrong. While there's every chance of an upset win for Persoon, we'll still go with Taylor to retain her title.
