Kanye West claims social media causes married men to 'suffer like Jesus' as countless women post racy snaps online
Kanye West has accused social media of fueling sex addiction and tormenting married men, saying he suffers "like Jesus" as a result.
The 42-year-old took a shot at women who use the platforms to share sexually charged snaps -- like his wife Kim Kardashian -- suggesting they "wouldn't have put out" such images if the platforms did not exist.
Asmitting that he is a sex addict, Kanye said he used to have to pay someone to buy pornography on his behalf when he was young in order to see the kind of images he now witnesses on social media.
The "Christian innovator" said during an interview on Beats 1 on Apple Music that the apps were like "modern-day cigarettes" owing to their addictive qualities. Kanye recently declared that he's a born-again Christian as he promotes his new album "Jesus is King" along with a film by the same name. Both works are filled with religious messages.
However, the rapper continues to compare himself to a greater power despite acknowledging he has been called blasphemous for comparing himself to God and Jesus in the past. His 2013 album 'Yeezus' featured a song titled 'I Am a God'.
"I suffer - and I appreciate the suffering because we can just feel a little bit of what Jesus felt when we suffer, but social media makes me suffer," he said in the latest interview. "I suffer from that and by me saying this out loud, I'm sure there's other married men that suffer in a similar way that are happy to hear me say, 'Oh ya, I'm suffering'."
When asked why he relates particularly to married men, Kanye said it was "because social media prompts women, in particular, to put out content that they wouldn't have put out."
When asked whether he was referring to his sex addiction: "Yeah... I deal with my addiction," he responded saying. "When I was younger and I wanted to see something like that I had to pay someone that was older to go to 7/11 and buy it."
Furthermore, he revealed his addiction to porn began after he found his dad's Playboy magazine at the age of five, saying it's "affected almost every choice I made for the rest of my life."
That said, Kanye's remarks conflict with the fact that his wife Kim frequently shares sexy, provocative snaps to her 150 million Instagram followers.
