Who is Kaivon Washington? Jailed teen accused in Madison Brooks case feared not going to 'heaven'
BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA: Kaivon Washington, a teenager accused of raping LSU student Madison Brooks and filming her after the assault was reportedly a high school varsity football player. Brooks died after being run over by a car on January 15. She was allegedly also raped before being hit by the car.
According to charging documents obtained by The Washington Post, Kaivon Washington, 18, and a 17-year-old male have been charged with third-degree rape. Casen Carver, 18, and Everett Lee, 28, are charged with principle to third-degree rape, meaning they were present but did not participate in the crime. Police said Carver was heard laughing "callously" at Brooks after she was allegedly sexually assaulted.

Who is Kaivon Washington?
Suspect Kaivon Washington filmed Brooks slurring her words after she was allegedly assaulted in the backseat of a car, a court was told, according to the Daily Mail. The publication saw pictures in which Washington appears to be a party boy although he is under the legal age of drinking. Photos show him posing for the camera and partying with friends. Another photo shows him topless, clutching an inflatable alien.
In a TikTok video, Washington admits that his "biggest fear" is "not making it to heaven." In other social media posts, he talks of God, saying in one of them, "God helps me through everything – that's why I'm so great." Washington remains in custody and was given a $150,000 bond.
It was revealed that 19-year-old Brooks allegedly worked at the bar where she and the suspects had been drinking before the sexual assault, according to the New York Post. Police said she was seen on surveillance video entering the bar around 10.pm on January 14, when she did not appear to be working. She met the juvenile suspect at the bar and left with him in an intoxicated state between 1.am and 2.am January 15, the day the alleged assault occurred. The three other suspects later got into the car and allegedly raped Brooks. She was then dropped off nearby and eventually run over by a ride-share driver. According to the autopsy, Brooks had "injuries consistent with previous sexual assault anally," as well as other injuries from the crash. Police said the driver of the vehicle will not be charged because he was not intoxicated. He also immediately called emergency services.
