The first look of the Snyder Cut is here! The filmmaker, on Thursday, June 18, tweeted a short clip of ‘Justice League’ that will debut next year on HBO Max.
Zack Snyder wrote on Twitter, “First ever sneak peek at JL. Get ready for more at DC FanDome.”

The clip features Diana Prince or Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) discovering an artifact that depicts what one can only assume is DC supervillain Darkseid. As Diana stands with a torch in her hand, looking fearfully at the artifact, a voiceover of Lex Luthor's (Jesse Eisenberg) dialogue from the end of ‘Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ can be heard. “The bells are already been rung, and they've heard it. Out in the dark, among the stars. Ding dong, the God is dead,” the voice says. This is followed by a short look at Darkseid and his army -- a thoroughly impressive scene!

Fans of the Snyder Cut, who have been waiting impatiently for the film to release, predictably had a meltdown post the release of the clip. Thousands and thousands of fans on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, and other platforms have been excitedly sharing the clip.

For many, this clip was vindication for what they expected. The Snyder Cut would be amazing. “2020 as a year has f****** sucked, so many bad things have and are happening. But by god as DC Fans, we have been treated superbly,” wrote a fan on Twitter. Another wrote, “Ties to ancient lores and myths. This is what I’ve been wanting from Snyder. Okay f*** yeah. I'm finally down.”

Many also compared Joss Whedon’s version with the Snyder Cut on the only point they could: The Darkseid scene. A fan wrote in that regard, “This teaser in itself is a million times better looking than Josstice [sic] s***. F*** yeah! Can't wait.”

Most fans, of course, were very excited about Darkseid. Admittedly, they all wanted to see more of the supervillain. But for the time being, fans seem happy with what little they have been teased with.

The filmmaker said in May that it was still unclear if the Snyder Cut would be a four-hour feature film, or a miniseries consisting of individual chapters. “It will be an entirely new thing, and, especially talking to those who have seen the released movie, a new experience apart from that movie,” he said.

In January 2017, Snyder had produced a four-hour cut of ‘Justice League’. Warner Bros. wanted to release a two-hour version and asked the filmmaker to cut his magnum opus short. While Snyder said that he cut the movie’s length down to two hours and 20 minutes, it needed more work. Before he could pursue that, however, Snyder had to step away from ‘Justice League’ after a family tragedy -- his daughter died by suicide in March of 2017.

Joss Whedon then stepped in to oversee reshoots and post-production. The difference between Snyder and Whedon’s visual and cinematic styles are as far away from each other as possible. While the former’s is more punchy, the latter prefers a darker aesthetic. The Whedon theatrical cut did not go down well with fans. It fared badly at the Box Office as well, earning $657.9 million globally. Soon afterward, fans began demanding that Snyder be given a chance to complete his own vision. According to news reports, WarnerMedia chairman Bob Greenblatt said that the budget for the Snyder Cut would likely go north of $30 million.
