Norwegian national and AFC Bournemouth's star Joshua King on Aston Villa and West Brom's radar, say reports
The Premier League Summer transfer window might have closed, however, with domestic transfers still allowed between Premier League teams and lower-tiers sides, AFC Bournemouth's forward. Joshua King has been shown keen interest by Aston Villa and West Brom, says an NBC report. Previously, King was linked with major teams, including Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. If the move does materialize either with Villa or Brom, it will see King join the top-tier league with strikers Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser who were lapped up by Newcastle earlier.
The 28-year-old, known for his attacking prowess, was part of Manchester United's outfit in 2008 when he turned 16. After an impressive stint, he joined Preston and returned to the United outfit before being loaned out to German club Borussia Mönchengladbach. This was followed by a stint with the Blackburn Rovers and scored his first goal for the club at home to Cardiff City. He switched to Bournemouth in 2015 and has 48 goals with the club. King is expected to be part of the Norway squad for international fixtures against Serbia, Romania, and Northern Ireland over the next two weeks with the 2020 International Friendlies taking place. According to Bournemouth echo, King, when asked about his future during the September break said: "I will not comment anymore and try to make headlines. I am in the situation I am in."
Villa would be keen on roping in the experienced forward as he adds to depth in their offense. The side is currently placed second on the points table with three wins in as many games. Their recent win came in the form a massive upset they pulled off over defending champs Liverpool by giving them a 7-2 drubbing and the Dean Smith-coached side will be hoping to secure King's services. West Brom, on the other hand, is 17th on the table with three losses from four games. Slaven Bilić and his side would be hoping to add more teeth to the attack by having King in their ranks.
What are your thoughts on King's possible move to Villa or West Brom?
