Shia LaBeouf is all set to make his return with his movie "Honey Boy" which is set to premiere on November 8, 2019. The actor not only acted in the movie but also wrote and directed it while he was in rehab. Appearing on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live', LaBeouf opened up about how he thought that his acting days were over after he entered rehab.

In 2017, LaBeouf was asked by the court to enter rehab for 10 weeks after his several outbursts that were caused due to his struggle with alcoholism. LaBeouf used this time to reflect on his career and life and thought that he would not be able to return as an actor. However, LaBeouf knew that he had to do something.

It is then that he decided to enroll as a peace officer. Talking to Jimmy Kimmel on the show, LaBeouf revealed that he had even signed the paperwork required to join the squad before entering the rehab center. However, things changed when he started spending time at rehab and eventually found out that he suffered from PTSD that was caused due to the childhood abuse he suffered from his father.

The doctors advised LaBeouf to start writing as they thought it was the best way to come to terms with what had happened in the past. Listening to the advice given by the doctors, LaBeouf decided to write every bit of memory that he had attached to his father. After LaBeouf was done writing he realized that the writings looked a lot like a script which led him to pass on the pages to one of his friends.

LaBeouf was surprised to hear from his friend that he loved what was written and it is then that the actor decided to make that into a movie. The movie has already received a lot of praise from reviewers but LaBeouf added that the review was "not of the movie but a review of my father".

Even though the movie paints a bad image of LaBeouf's father he cleared the air stating that they are still in good terms and his father is open to how LaBeouf represented him in the movie. At the same time, the actor revealed that the movie helped him understand his father better.
