The Jerry Springer Show star, Steve Wilkos, has come forward and said that the statement he gave previously with regard to the car crash which took place on January 21, was a lie. The former security director previously was arrested on charges of operating under the influence which resulted in the incident.

The accident took place in Darien, Connecticut and left him injured. But it wasn't until Wednesday (February 21) evening that he turned himself in at the Darien Police Department after realizing that there was a warrant out for his arrest.

Later, the authorities confirmed that his bail was set by a judge at $1,500. Steve paid on the same day and was released. The medical records that the police found stated that his Blood Alcohol Content was 0.29% and over the legal limit when he crashed his vehicle.

At the time of the incident, Steve reportedly said that he was distracted as he reached for his glasses and lost control of the vehicle before he crashed. But, he has now come forward with another statement to TMZ in which he admits that the previous statement given to him was a cover-up for what really happened during that time.

"Over the course of my life, I have been struggling with bouts of depression and on the day of my accident, I had a complete lapse in judgment which resulted in me drinking and getting behind the wheel of my car," Steve said. "This experience reinforces my commitment to get the professional help that I need and I have recently completed an intensive medically supervised program."

Steve was able to gain following after he appeared as the head of security on the show from 1994-2007. He is due in Stamford Superior Court on March 5.
