'We lost the baby': James Van Der Beek reveals his wife Kimberly Brook miscarried their 6th baby
James Van Der Beek, 42, revealed that his wife Kimberly suffered a miscarriage and lost the couple's sixth baby.
While on the 'Dancing With The Stars' semifinals episode, Van Der Beek had shared that Kimberly, 37, had suffered a miscarriage over the weekend. In his video package, Van Der Beek had tearfully revealed, "My wife Kimberly and I went through every expecting parent’s worst nightmare. We lost the baby".
"The little soul that we had expected to welcome into our family took a shortcut to whatever lies beyond," he continued. "You never know why these things happen, that’s what I’ve been telling my kids. All you know is that it brings you closer together, it breaks you open, it opens up your heart, it deepens your appreciation. It makes you more human".
He shared that he did not think he would be dancing on Monday evening, but shared that he chose to compete for his wife who had encouraged him to continue in the competition. Van Der Beek was seen doing the Foxtrot to Hozier's song 'Take Me to Church' after which he wept on stage.
In a sweet shoutout message to his wife, Van Der Beek shared, "Kimberly, I love you. Thank you for pushing me out on that dance floor. Thank you for everything you do. I don’t know how you do it. Five kids. You’re amazing". He also took to Instagram to share the tragic news with his fans and followers and wrote that the family was devastated at the loss.
He also went on to thank "all of our friends and co-workers (and dance partners) who have shown up for us so beautifully during this time". The pair are parents to Gwendolyn, 16 months, Emilia, 3, Annabel Leah, 5, Joshua, 7, and Olivia, 9.
