Jameela Jamil jokes her 'thumbs have abs' from blocking and reporting racists, internet loves the new cardio
Since the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, the US has been witnessing a wave of protests. While the international hacktivists group Anonymous has re-emerged after years in the light of yet another death propelled by racism and has taken everyone by shock with confidential information exposing the government, the protesters have taken to the streets acting against the police force and setting cities ablaze.
Floyd's death and the protests are also being addressed by many celebrities, with each of them trying to extend their support in any way possible. While a few like Lana Del Ray, J Cole and Halsey stepped out of their homes to participate in the anti-racism protests and against the police brutality, some are doing their best through the virtual world to put an end to years of discrimination.
British actress, model, and activist Jameela Jamil, has been doing her bit although remotely, to support the cause. Recently, she took to Twitter to share a post, which is gathering immense attention, thanks to Jamil’s sense of humor and her voice against the issue.
She tweeted, “My only cardio the past few days has been blocking and reporting racists. My thumbs now have abs.” Unlike many celebrities who are indulging in an intense online fight to stand defiant against racists, Jamil decided to rather block them and her way has definitely impressed the internet users.
While one of her fans wrote, “ME TOO! A bit disappointed though, I came to fight some racists, but they give up after a few exchanges cuz: They know they are wrong. They are totally uneducated about anything and uncapable of using any logic and just yell the one thing Fox has said. I swear bullying them works”
“See, you've gotta mix up your cardio to get the most out of it. I recommend alternating your blocking regimen with hyper-ventilating while watching the news--it's been doing wonders for my lung capacity!,” joked another. Meanwhile, another thanked the model saying, “Thank you for all the support you give to every important topic”
“I stan ONE female activist. actually, thats not true, i stan several, but youre amazing,” added another.
Referring to the dire circumstances caused by the latest act of police brutality, a few followers have stated that, following in Jamil’s footsteps, even they have chosen to stay away from racists and block them than try to make them understand the sensitivity of the issue. “It’s my favorite home workout! Report and block them all!,” wrote one.
Jamil has been quite active on the social media forum after Floyd's death, often calling to attention details people have a problem with. A day ago, she slammed those who were peddling the 'not all cops' pitch after the officer who knelt and killed Floyd was arrested. "Until we see appropriate justice served to the MURDERING, abusive bad cops, I just don’t feel like hearing about the good cops. Put your energy and influence in getting the officers who we have clear proof of hurting/killing black people put behind bars...then we can, she said.
