BTS’ chapter 2 is off to a great start from V having the time of his life at Paris Fashion Week to Jin making ARMY Twitter go into a meltdown with his shirtless photos. We’ve also been getting some already iconic solo tracks like ‘Left and Right’, Jungkook’s collab with Charlie Puth and Suga’s video game OST ‘Our Island’. And now it is time to hype up J-hope aka Jung Hoseok as the first BTS member to release a proper solo album. While the members have dropped solo mixtapes on SoundCloud in the past, this is new territory for the global K-pop stars.

And J-hope is making his mark with much pomp as he took a surprising route that no one was ready for. To announce his solo debut album ‘Jack In The Box’, the BTS member released punk and emo concept photos complete with bleached eyebrows, piercings and smokey eyes that made a lot of us nostalgic for our early 2000s goth phase. To further tease fans of what’s to come, J-hope dropped the music video for the pre-release ‘More’ on July 1.

J-hope drops ‘More music video for solo debut

J-hope proves that he and BTS are now beyond K-pop as he foregoes the usual energetic or glamorous K-pop traits for a grunge concept for ‘More’. Reminiscent of the early 2000s rock bands, the rapper goes all out for the pre-release as we get a brutally honest side to him in this dark music video. J-hope sings about his worries and fears along with his wish to keep wanting more. His ambition as an artist is clear as he feels like he needs to keep going even if he falls. He also disses antis by adding that while like any artist he wants trophies, Grammys, fame and money, it is not everything and that creating art is what he truly wants.

‘Losing my mind’

J-hope meshes old-school hip hop and rock for an exciting music video for ‘More’ that had BTS fans trending it on social media worldwide. One ARMY tweeted, “AND WHEN THE WHOLE CROWD AT LOLLAPALOOZA SCREAMS "YEAH RIGHT, BECAUSE I WANT SOME MORE" WITH HIM.” Another fan posted, “Bro I love this side of Jung hoseok omg he's so cool for this!! The vibe, the beat, the lyrics bro "More" is a masterpiece!!”

One shared, “HOSEOK IS THE COOLEST.” Another fan commented, “I AM F**KING SCREAMING CRYING DYING NOT BREATHING LOSING MY MIND GOING CRAZY FALLING IN LOVE SHAKING SHIVERING SWEATING HAVING A LOW BLOOD PRESSURE BEC OF HIM I AM NOT ME THE SONG THE STYLES HIM THE LYRICS THE RAP THE EVERYTHING IS JUST SO PERFECT OMG.” One ARMY wrote, “ROCKSTAR J-HOPE IS OFFICIALLY REAL.”

Another was impressed with the details, “He got the song <MORE> delivered in this box at the beginning, and closes it off in the ending. It's one of his jack-in-the-boxes, the first of many. Surprises no one sees coming that still tells a story of him.” One made a reaction meme, “ARMYS AFTER LISTENING TO #MORE.” Another shared, “Jung Hoseok!! The Rockstar vibe of the song!! The lyrics, the video, the beat, everything is wild!! I'm freaking out 😭😭 jhope is so cool!” One ARMY joked, "Hoseok in MORE: i’m thirsty me real quick:."
