'It's Okay to Not Be Okay' is an upcoming Korean drama which had its first cast reading sometime during the first quarter of 2020. This marks the first show for lead actor Kim Soo-hyun after returning from his army enlistment.

Release date:

'It's Okay to Not Be Okay' will release on June 20. The show originally airs on tvN on Saturdays and Sundays at 9 pm KST in South Korea and can be streamed on Netflix.

Plot:

The show is about two individuals who, until they meet each other have had no brush with love. Moon Kang-tae is a caretaker at a psychological ward and his only aim is to continue to work as a caretaker and be able to care for his brother who needs a caretaker in his life. Then we have Ko Moon-young, who is an anti-social children's book author. She is unaware when it comes to relationships and her attitude comes across to people as her being rude, selfish, and thoughtless. This is why the original title "Saikojiman Gwaenchanha" meaning 'Psycho, but it's Okay' makes sense. What happens when the two of them meet is the crux of the show.

Cast:

Kim Soo-hyun as Moon Kang-tae

Actor Kim Soo-hyun returns to the small screen after his lead role in 'Producers' which came out in 2015. The actor was then enlisted in the army and upon returning he made a cameo appearance in 'Crash Landing on You' and 'Hotel Del Luna', however, this is the first lead role. In the show, he plays the role of a caretaker at a psychiatric ward where he is expected to record patients' information.

Seo Ye-ji as Ko Moon-young

Actor Seo Ye-ji who was last seen in 'Lawless Lawyer' and is popular for her roles in 'Moorim School' and 'Save Me' will be seen as the female lead in the show. Her character Ko Moon-young is anti-social, and strangely a popular children's book author. She is called rude, selfish and arrogant by people who do not understand her or know her closely and yet this doesn't affect Moon-young.

Director-Writer:

'It's Okay to Not Be Okay' is directed by Park Shin-woo whose most popular work happens to be the Song Hye-kyo and Park Bo-gum starrer 'Encounter'. Other celebrated works include 'Hyde, Jekyll and Me', and 'Jealousy Incarnate'. The writer of the show is Jo Yong, who also wrote 'Jugglers'.

Trailer:

The first trailer of the show featured how Moon-young and Kang-tae's first meeting leads to misunderstanding and to an extent even resentment before it turns into something positive. This trailer also hints at Kang-tae's brother being a fan of Moon-young's work as well.

The second trailer is told from Moon-young's perspective as she explains that while she doesn't like flowers that die slowly petal after petal she likes magnolias because it falls all at once to its death. She is similar to a magnolia, so what happens when she meets someone who interests her?
