LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The upcoming romantic series 'One Day' on Netflix is based on David Nicholls' book of the same name.

Set to premiere on February 8, the series centers on the romantic journey of Emma Morely (Ambika Mod) and Dexter Mayhew (Leo Woodall).

'One Day's unique storyline made the novel a fan-favorite

The plot of the book follows protagonists Emma and Dexter as they grow older over the next 20 years, meeting on July 15 of each year.

The novels, which take place between 1988 and 2007, provide a thorough description of the characters' growth from adolescence to adulthood as well as their encounters with the highs and lows of life.

The unique storyline of the novel exposes the complexities of romance and emotional depth in a relationship.

The book examines the lovely relationship that exists between Emma and Dexter, who, despite their obvious attraction, follow different paths and are frequently left wondering, 'What if?'

'One Day' also has a movie adaptation

Prior to the Netflix series, the book was also made into a 2011 film titled 'One Day', starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess.

The film remained faithful to the book and did a fantastic job dramatizing Emma and Dexter's story, which further cements the novel's influence on contemporary love stories.

The film's emotional depth and original structure won it a lot of praise.

The novel's beauty lies in the question: will the protagonists come to realize their love for one another or will they constantly drift apart?

'One Day' skillfully captures contemporary relationships' complexities, where, despite having love in common, two very different people often end up choosing to pursue their own paths.

'One Day' also features two strikingly different main characters: Emma is an ardent woman who aspires to live a meaningful life, and Dexter is a charming and carefree man who struggles with commitment.

However, as time passes, the characters evolve and undergo ups and downs, bringing us along for the ride.

'One Day' will be available to stream on Netflix on February 8.
