A journalist with a lot to prove investigates the case of Anna Delvey, the Instagram-legendary German heiress who stole the hearts of New York’s social scene and their money as well

In May 2018, The Cut published a long piece titled, 'How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People'. The piece examined how Anna Delvey (also known as Anna Sorokin), a con artist, managed to trick New York's art elite into believing she was a wealthy heiress, scamming multiple hotels and people in the process.

Anna was eventually arrested and sentenced to between four and 12 years in state prison. She was also fined $24,000, and ordered to pay restitution of about $199,000. This intriguing account is now going to be turned into a series titled ‘Inventing Anna’, and by none other than the legendary Shonda Rhimes.
