'Indebted' Episode 1: Despite lackluster reviews, fans welcome the show and love Fran Drescher's return to TV
NBC's new comedy 'Indebted' features the much-awaited return of sitcom legend Fran Drescher. Drescher, who is best known for her roles in 'The Nanny', 'Living With Fran', and 'Happily Divorced', always stood out for her New York accent and her nasal voice.
'Indebted' also stars Adam Pally ('Happy Endings'), Abby Elliot ('Saturday Night Live'), Steve Weber ('iZombie') and Jessy Hodges ('Anyone But Me'), and was created by Dan Levy (not the 'Schitt's Creek' Dan Levy) who is known for his work on 'The Goldbergs' and 'Whitney'.
While the pilot of the show feels forgettable, fans have still reacted positively to the new sitcom. One fan tweeted, "Loving #Indebted because I adore @frandrescher. It would have been so cool if the husband had been Maxwell and son was Brighton, though. Same story, but fun throwback to when we all fell in love with Franny! Still love it anyway!"
Another fan wrote, "I'll definitely be watching again. I needed a good belly laugh, and #Indebted delivered! Love it!"
Viewers are especially thrilled with the return of Fran Drescher and Steve Weber on primetime television. A viewer tweeted, "So happy to see @frandrescher back where she belongs — in a sitcom!."
"Fran and Steven are cracking me up. Loving this show," a fan opined, while another wrote, "Having Fran Drescher back on tv has made my 2020! thank you #indebted."
However, not everyone was in love with the show. One viewer wrote, "Watching #Indebted because I love Fran Drescher but not feeling it so far. The son is kind of dull and the humor seems a bit forced. The laugh track was going off even before anything was even funny."
Another viewer tweeted, "I was looking forward to it. It's too disjointed and unbelievable even for a sitcom. I'd rather rewatch #Cursed aka the Weber Show. I stopped watching - haven't done that in a while. Fran and Abby deserve better."
'Indebted' airs on NBC on Thursday nights at 9/8c.
