When 'In the Dark' returned for the second season this year, we saw Murphy Mason (Perry Mattfeld) get deeper into business with Nia Bailey (Nicki Micheaux) as she tried to save Max Parrish (Casey Deidrick) from Nia's people.

In last week's episode of 'In the Dark', we saw Murphy finally agree to work with Darnell James (Keston John) to take down Nia, the drug lord and money launderer Murphy found herself working with after her colleagues and friends, Felix Bell (Morgan Krantz) and Jess Damon (Brooke Markham) stole Nia's money. We also saw that Jess finally found out about Felix and Murphy dealing drugs for Nia. She would have been killed if Nia wasn't shot; Jess then had to use her medical skills to save Nia's life.

In flashforwards that we have seen in multiple episodes this season, we also see that Guiding Hope's newest receptionist Ben (Chris Perfetti) ending up dead with Felix and Murphy frantically cleaning his blood. The promo for this week's episode shows that Ben finally discovered their secret that they are stashing Nia's drugs at Guiding Hope and are helping her deliver them. Moreover, it also seems like Ben is not above threatening Felix to call the police on them. We wonder how Murphy and Felix were careless enough to let it happen.

Meanwhile, Murphy is still determined to keep Max safe and it looks like she might take more extreme risks. What more will Murphy get in to? We know her relationship with Jess is now fraught after she lied to the latter about the drugs. Jess will also have quite a bit to deal with. After learning of her friends' betrayal, she may have to go through one more heartbreak. Sam (Cortni Vaughn Joyner) had gotten her girlfriend, Sterling (Natalie Liconti) to spy on Murphy and her friends. After Sam saw that Sterling and Jess growing closer than expected, she asks Sterling to break up with Jess in last week's episode.

'In the Dark' airs on The CW on Thursday nights at 9/8c.
