'I'm Thinking of Ending Things' is an upcoming Netflix horror film that was announced in January 2018. At the time when the film was announced, Scott Stuber, the head of Netflix’s film group said, “Charlie [Kaufman] is a singular talent with a formidable artistic vision. He has the rare ability to tell unique stories in a universal way. I’m Thinking of Ending Things is a chilling thriller and we can’t wait to share Charlie’s adaptation with audiences everywhere.”

Release date: 

The film is scheduled to release on September 4, 2020, and can be streamed on Netflix. 

Plot: 

The film is based on the NPR Best Book of the Year of 2016, 'I’m Thinking of Ending Things', authored by Iain Reid. The story is narrated by the lead character Jake's girlfriend for a few months. She narrates a story that begins with how uncomfortable her relationship with Jake has become and does so by talking about a dinner meeting with his parent. This leads to a disturbing chain of events that leads to the girlfriend killing herself by shoving the sharp end of a broken clothes hangar in her neck. What exactly is Jake's story?

Cast:

Jesse Plemons as Jake

Well-known actor and comedian Jesse Plemons plays the role of Jake, the lead character in the film.

Jessie Buckley as Jake's Girlfriend

Actor Jessie Buckley who is popular for taking part in BBC TV's 'I'd do Anything' will play the role of Cindy in the film. 

The film will also see Toni Collette as Mother and David Thewlis as Father, along with Nick Kroll, Hadley Robinson and Abby Quinn in roles that haven't been revealed as of now.

Director:

Academy Award-winner Charlie Kaufman is directing the film. He is well-known for previously adapting Susan Orlean’s 'The Orchid Thief' (which became 'Adaptation') and the Chuck Barris memoir 'Confessions of a Dangerous Mind'.
