'I Love A Mama's Boy': Will Shekeb stand up for Emily after she gives ultimatum to move out of his mom's house?
TLC’s ‘I Love A Mama’s Boy’ follows the stories of four couples and how the girlfriends were trying to gain acceptance from their boyfriend's mothers. One such couple was Emily and Shekeb. The pair had been dating for three years and looked forward to moving in together. However, one thing that was holding their relationship back was Shekeb's mother, Laila.
Shekeb and Laila have been close for a long time. Laila was not happy to find that Shekeb was dating a Korean girl and had never really accepted her. Frustrated by being mistreated by Shekeb’s mother, Emily finally gave Shekeb an ultimatum asking him to move out of his mother’s home into an apartment with her.
The couple went house hunting and found a perfect one. The house was small and modern with high ceilings and had a cozy charm about it. Both liked the house very much but the question was when would Shekeb break the news to mommy dearest that he was going to move out of her house and move in with Emily.
In the second half of the episode we find that the couple had not seen each other in weeks after the Covid-19 lockdown rules were imposed. Emily was not allowed to come to Laila’s house. Weeks later, Emily came to see Shekeb and Laila turns her out yelling, “Get out, you are not allowed in my home.” Instead of standing up for his girlfriend and calling out his mother’s childish behavior, Shekeb decided to step out of the house and eat their lunch.
Emily said during the confession that due to the lockdown their shifting process was interrupted but Shekeb still had to tell his mother about moving out.
Later we see Shekeb take his mom outside for a ride to a cafe for some tea. Laila seemed to enjoy her time outside and made plans with her son to go to the beach. Little did she know that Shekeb had invited another guest to their little tea party. Shekeb told his mom that he wanted Emily in his life and she should accept it.
Laila told his son he should take Emily out of the picture. Soon after Emily arrived at the scenario and Laila said her blood-pressure was going up from her presence. Emily asked Shekeb if he had told his mother yet and Laila charged what was it that she had to know.
