Spoilers for 'I Know This Much Is True' Episode 6

Mark Ruffalo's performance in the HBO drama series 'I Know This Much Is True' will floor you, it's not only impeccable but he is truly respected to have brought such a heavy narrative to life. Twin brothers Dominick and Thomas Birdsey (both played by Ruffalo) live a life of dependency, with Dominick taking care of Thomas as he suffers from Paranoid Schizophrenia. The entire series sees Dominick never give up on his brother and even though the finale saw Thomas's passing, we see Dominick blame himself.

It's very rare in the series that you see scenes where Dominick and Thomas are close, due to Ruffalo playing the double character role. But, in the finale we got to see the brothers together at the start of the episode as Dominick brings Thomas home from HATCH - Thomas died later that night after he jumped off the falls by a graveyard. "Mark Ruffalo. Mark Ruffalo. Mark Ruffalo. Mane you know you put whole ass soul in this limited series. Probably one of your best projects to date. A masterclass performance from you. You better ACT @MarkRuffalo and I mean ACT! #IKnowThisMuchIsTrue," tweeted a fan.

Better known as being the Hulk, we think the role of the Birdsey boys has now made Ruffalo known for much more than a green Marvel character. "Mark Ruffalo excels at everything. #IKnowThisMuchIsTrue," wrote another fan.

Ruffalo's efforts were intense in both roles, as he brought the characters to life, but most importantly his role as Thomas was inspiring. From gaining the weight to match the character's story to delivering heartbreaking scenes of chopping his hand and fighting off officials in hospitals, Ruffalo brought empathy to Thomas' character. "Give @MarkRuffalo his Emmy now. Give this show EVERY Emmy now. Best Series of 2020.   #DerekCianfrance #HBO #IKnowThisMuchIsTrue" tweeted a fan, with another fan replying, "I hope Mark Ruffalo gets all the awards for #IKnowThisMuchIsTrue. Give him an Emmy, a Tony, a Grammy..all of it. Wonderful performance."

"@MarkRuffalo thank you so much for your dedication to this sublime project. Thank you for the intense last six weeks. Thank you. #IKnowThisMuchIsTrue@HBO," another fan tweeted. It was a pleasure to watch an actor that most have grown up with excel at a role that no one saw coming. “Love grows from forgiveness That from destruction comes renovation That the evidence that God exists is in our connections to others...” @MarkRuffalo... WOW! A total powerhouse Amazing work #IKnowThisMuchIsTrue@HBO," tweeted another fan.

The finale was intense, but hats off to Ruffalo for six weeks of epic storytelling. "Ok @MarkRuffalo thank You. Im emotional drained but profoundly moved by your performance; about tragedy, redemption, forgiveness: a must watch #IKnowThisMuchIsTrue," wrote another fan,

The finale of 'I Know This Much Is True' aired Sunday at 9 pm EST on HBO.
