This story contains major spoilers for Season 2 Episode 2 of Hulu's 'Shrill' titled 'Kevin'

Barring a little skepticism that was planted in her head by her best friend Fran (Lolly Adefope) and her father Bill Easton (played by Daniel Stern), Annie Easton (Aidy Bryant) begins her day in high spirits. It is the first day of Annie's freelancing career and she is pumped and eager for the new beginnings in store for her.

Her boyfriend Ryan (Luka Jones) stands by her full of support and love and Annie loves it! At the moment, the path ahead for Annie is filled with possibilities that are waiting to be explored by this new writer on the block. And Annie, brimming with positivity and ambition, is ready to take over the world.

Annie plans to begin her freelance journalistic career by interviewing the one and only, The Awesome,(Beck Bennett) the troll who made her life hell in Season 1. Annie shows up at his office startling him out of a meeting. Their brief conversation is a mix of awkward and weird - the troll, Kevin, tells Annie why he harassed her online and frankly, it is the same 'nice guy' story you have heard from every nice guy. With enough material, Annie spends the entire night writing the article and publishing it.

But with no one reading Annie's interview with her troll and the comment section riddled with 53 comments from a penis bot, Annie is filled with doubt. Was quitting her job really the best decision? Should she have stuck around The Thorn despite the hell that her boss unleashed on her?

Meanwhile, Fran is having a bit of a heartbreak situation. She has only just made the discovery that Vic (Melanie Field) is not exclusive and is not only dating other people but she actually moved in with someone else. Hurt and livid, Fran deletes Vic's number and blocks her on social media. But her pain is palpable.

Fran is rarely ever the person to be vulnerable to others. But with Vic, there was something in the air and she just kept falling for her. Having real feelings for someone like this is new for Fran and now that she has found out that she might have been just another girl for Vic is hurtful. But it hints at Fran embarking on her very own self-discovery journey. What is she due to find out on this path?

All episodes of Season 2 of 'Shrill' are currently streaming on Hulu.
