Howard Stern slammed actor Johnny Depp for 'overacting' during his public defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard. On Monday's broadcast (April 25, 2022) of his syndicated Sirius XM radio show, Stern, 68, discussed the trial and referred to Depp, 58, as a "narcissist."

The talk show host went on to say that Depp thought the trial should be broadcast because he believes he can talk his way out of anything. According to Mediaite, Stern said, “The reason he wanted that on — he wanted it televised [because] that’s what narcissists do,” He added, “They think they can talk their way out of anything. I think Johnny Depp is a huge narcissist and what I mean by that is — he figured, ‘I’ll put this on TV and because I’m so persuasive and because I’m so smart, I’m such a wonderful guy.’”

Stern continued, “I’ll play you some clips from the Johnny Depp trial. If he isn’t acting — I mean, he’s so overacting because he’s writing his own material as he goes along,” He added, “You know, I gotta tell you, he’s wrong. He shouldn’t be putting this on TV in any shape.” He also agreed with his co-host Robin Quivers that Depp's career would not be saved by the trial. “That’s what narcissists do, [they say], ‘I will charm the pants off of America at the trial.’ No you won’t! This will not go well.”

Stern predicted, “It’s not going well for you, it’s not going well for her. It’s not going well for anybody. You sound like two battling children.” He added, “Johnny Depp testified in court for two days last week. Two days. Think about that, lots of room to embarrass yourself. Two full, f**king days! First of all, his difficulty in speaking the English language is fantastic…And the accent. First of all, isn’t he from like the South of the Midwest? Johnny Depp was born in Kentucky. Does that sound like a guy from Kentucky?”

Why are Amber Heard and Johnny Depp a topic now?

In 2019, Johnny Depp filed a lawsuit against Amber after she wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post in which she referred to previous charges she had made against him and claimed she had become "a public figure representing domestic abuse." Depp filed a $50 million lawsuit in response to the story, despite the fact that Amber did not mention him or specify any of the claimed abuse in the essay. She responded with a counterclaim for $100 million.

Twitter reactions

After Howard Stern’s statements came out, Depp's fans lashed out against the talk show host on Twitter. One of them wrote, “Ever think Johnny wanted cameras there because the media constantly twist everything? There’s literal audios of what she done. I hope no one ever accuses you and you get called a narcissist and that you’re over acting, you pig. Go sort your wig out also @HowardStern.” Another said, “I bet this is only cause Stern has had some sort of beef with Johnny before. Around the same generation, he was around when Johnny was all the rage & in his younger years. All the girls wanted him. Hidden jealousy, perhaps?”
