What is ‘How to Build a Sex Room’ all about?

Netflix's new show tries to give couples a different experience and amp up their sex lives by giving their rooms a spicy touch of renovation. As the title suggests, 'How to Build a Sex Room' helps couples build a room in their homes dedicated to sex, with the assistance of luxury interior designer Melanie Rose, the Mary Poppins of sex rooms. Each episode sees Rose interview a couple in-depth about their sex life in order to put together the perfect room.

Along with Rose, the show introduces her seemingly butter-fingered contractor Mike, as well as several Season 1 clients — one of whom thanks Rose for saving her marriage. In the trailer, Rose acknowledges the stigma surrounding sex rooms. “When people hear the words ‘sex room,’ they concentrate on the word ‘sex,’ and that connotes ‘dirty,’ ‘disgusting,'” she says. “But when I design them, they can be beautiful, and they are places where couples can explore their deepest fantasies.”

Who stars in ‘How to Build a Sex Room’?

In the series, Melanie Rose visits a couple who are looking to convert a room in their home into a high-end adult play space. She will be hosting the show along with her contractor Mike.

The interior designer was born and raised in London, England. Melanie spent over a decade as a successful actress appearing in many West End Shows and on television. Since relocating to Los Angeles she has become a much sought-after interior designer. Alongside traditional design and renovations, she also specializes in creating “sacred spaces:” rooms, suites and areas dedicated to the sensual and erotic.

Netflix will be releasing a series of home makeover shows this year, including 'Selling Sunset' season 6 and the erotic 'How to Build a Sex Room’. The latter will be the raunchiest home design series you have ever seen.
