How old is Ki-Adi-Mundi in 'The Acolyte'? Wookieepedia in hot water for changing Jedi Master's birth date
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Acolyte' Episode 4 premiered on Disney+ on June 18, 2024, and the action-adventure 'Star Wars' series has been controversy's favorite child ever since it came out as the ardent 'Star Wars' fans have been less than happy about the plot holes in the series.
'The Acolyte' adds a mystery element to the 'Star Wars' series as the dark force rises with Mae (Amandla Stenberg) going up against her twin sister Osha and Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) to go on a vicious quest to kill four Jedi-masters
The fourth episode brought in an unpleasant surprise for fans who were already miffed about the series. The show had a glimpse of Jedi Master Ki-Adi Mundi (Derek Arnold) who was featured as a middle-aged master. This contradicts the timeline in the 'Star Wars' canon as he is not supposed to be alive a hundred years before 'Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace'.
Wookieepedia which is the Wikipedia of the 'Star Wars' universe made an edit to the birth date of Ki-Adi Mundi to make her presence in the fourth episode make sense. Fans were not too happy about this change
Fans irked by Ki-Adi-Mundi's appearance in 'The Acolyte'
Ever since the series began, fans have been questioning it with the infinite plotholes it has, and sometimes for its forced representation. Ki-Adi-Mundi's appearance gave them another reason to rant on the show.
A Reddit user expressed the frustration by saying, "Middle-aged Ki-Adi-Mundi popping into a show that takes place roughly 40 years before he's born." Another Reddit user added, "What's worse, Dave Filoni, as the chief creative officer or whatever, has to sign off on this stuff. Nobody knows what they're doing. That should have never made it into the show."
Another Reddit user was frustrated about the mistakes being repeated time and again by saying, "Oh my god, that's just like Fantastic Beasts showing a young Professor McGonagall before she was born. It's funny seeing the same mistake being made with different franchises.
Actually, it's depressing."
A Reddit user also panned Wookieepedia for editing the age by saying, "They were so lazy and incompetent they couldn't be bothered to do even 30 seconds of research. Given how lazy and incompetent the rest of the writing is, I am partial to this explanation." Another Reddit user added "Um, what about "The Sith have been extinct for a millennium." You know, the thing that this show is actively contradicting? That kind of sounds like a big deal"
How old is Ki-Adi-Mundi in the 'Star Wars' canon?
Ki-Adi-Mundi's age hasn't been recognized in Disney's canon. The only two sources of Ki-Adi-Mundi's age are a 1999 CD-ROM released after the release of the 1999 film 'Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace' and a trading card in 2013.
Both the sources were recognized as non-Canon by Disney in 2014. That makes the presence of Ki-Adi-Mundi in 'The Acolyte' seem much more legitimate.
Wookieepedia's response to angry fan reactions
Wookieepedia responded to the angry fan reactions by sending out a tweet where they condemned the brutal and malicious nature of the tweets that were sent out.
Wookieepedia sent out a tweet that read, "We aren't going to mince words on this one. If your response to an editor adding a date to an article on Wookieepedia is to tell them you hope they and their pets die, you are not a Star Wars fan. Hate like that has no place here, and you are not welcome in our community."
