LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 started streaming on June 16, 2024, on HBO, and if the first three episodes are anything to go by, we are in for an exhilarating season of the 'Game of Thrones' prequel series as we begin to build towards some of the most action-packed, high-octane battle sequences.

'House of the Dragon' is based on George R R Martin's 'Fire and Blood', and among the battles meant to take place in the series if the book's chronology is followed is the Battle Above the Gods eye.

The makers have been slowly building towards the battle that will be an important event in the Dance of the Dragons and will incur significant damage to both the Greens and the Blacks. Here's everything about the battle.

What is Battle Above the Gods Eye?

Battle Above the Gods Eye is a battle that takes place between Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell) and Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) as they collide along with their dragons Vhagar and Caraxes.

Vhagar is the biggest dragon in the Seven Kingdoms and Caraxes is among the fiercest dragons in the Seven Kingdoms and perhaps the only Dragon who can take Vhagar on.

Daemon Targaryen is a fierce battle-tested warrior who has fought many battles in his time and Aemond is brave and unpredictable and in some ways similar to his uncle Daemon.

Battle Above the Gods Eye is expected to take place either late in Season 3 or Season 4 as the battle takes place after the Fall of King's Landing to Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy).

As Aemond goes on a spree of burning Harrenhall after King's Landing falls. Daemon challenges Aemond who arrives on the fourteenth day with Alys Rivers (Gayle Rankin), who is his lover at that time.

While the battle is still in the distance, there are breadcrumbs visible in Season 2 as Daemon tries to kill Aemond during Blood and Cheese and Aemond appreciates the fact that Daemon is not doing it directly.

Alys Rivers was also introduced in Episode 3 as she predicted Daemon's death in Harrenhall.

Who wins the Battle Above the Gods Eye?

Both Aemond and Daemon and their dragons are killed in the battle and no one gets a decisive victory in the battle. The battle gets its name from the river Gods Eye in Harrenhall and the prediction made by Alys Rivers about Daemon's death comes true.

Daemon jumps off his dragon and puts Valyrian Steel through Aemond's empty eye socket as both fall to the ground. Vhagar and Caraxes both fell into the sea and caused a huge splash of water as both the iconic dragons died.

Daemon's body is never found but it was believed that he could not have survived the fall. Some believed though that he survived and spent the rest of his life with a lover named Nettles.
