LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 will premiere on June 16, 2024, on HBO Max, and if the excitement among the fans wasn't already at a fever pitch, its new trailer has set many tongues wagging about the fate of their favorite characters in this fictitious world.

'House of the Dragon' was created by Ryan J Condal and George R R Martin, whose book 'Fire & Blood' it is based on. The series features Emma D'Arcy, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Rhys Ifans, Eve Best, and others.

'House of the Dragon' is a prequel to 'Game of Thrones' take place and focuses on the Targaryen House about 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen. The Targaryen house is known for its Dragons hence the name of the show.

Ever since the trailer dropped, fans have been speculating about what the second season could hold for the popular series. Here's what the trailer reveals about 'House of the Dragon' Season 2.

Dragons to be the center of attention

The trailer puts dragons in focus and it seems to be a precursor for a season that will feature them more than any season in 'House of the Dragon' and 'Game of Thrones'.

Dragons are characters in this world and have a significant role to play in the narrative but with the Targaryen house in the middle of a conflict where they go up against each other, it will be intriguing to see how fire meets fire.

The trailer also has a shot of three dragon eggs so more dragons can be expected in this season.

Big scale battles

The trailer teases a lot of battles in the second season of 'House of the Dragon' and the battles seem to be shot at a large scale which is a trademark for the franchise.

The battles could mean a lot of bloodshed and violence shot magnificently with great cinematography and of course Ramin Djawadi's epic music.

The highlight of these battles is the use of prosthetics and VFX to enhance the gravity and psychology of warfare.

Rhaenyra Targaryen to fight on the battlefield?

Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D' Arcy) is the protagonist of this series until now and we have seen a large part of the series from her viewpoint.

From the trailer, it seems that this season will be all about Rhaenyra trying to win the trust of her soldiers and other houses which align with her team better known as Team Black.

The trailer also teases her getting on the battlefield as she lays her hand on the sword. Could we see Rhaenyra on the battlefield? Only time will tell.

Alicent and Otto Hightower no longer in power?

Queen Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) is the widow of King Viserys I and is the leader of Team Green. Her character arc brings her face-to-face with her childhood friend Rhaenyra.

From the trailer though, it seems that all is not well with her rule as she is seen trying to escape a mutiny of sorts.

She will have her father Otto Hightower's (Rhys Ifans) astuteness to assist her though as the former hand of the King will go to any lengths to propel Alicent's son Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney) to the throne.

Important character deaths

If we have learned something over the years about this world created by George R R Martin, we should anticipate the death of prominent characters in this series.

It will be heartbreaking and unexpected for the fans who will never see it coming as we did with the death of Lucerys Velaryon (Elliot Grihault) in the first season.
