LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 Episode 6 aired on HBO on July 21, 2024. The engaging episode featured many iconic moments that will be remembered for long none more important than the scene where Seasmoke takes flight and goes to Addam of Hull (Clinton Liberty).

Addam of Hull is a character that has been established carefully by giving glimpses of him in the first few episodes however this is a major development for the character as Seasmoke chose him over Ser Steffon Darklyn (Anthony Flanagan) who apparently had a Targaryen ancestor.

Seasmoke has been lonely since the disappearance of Laenor Velaryon (John Macmillan). In 'Fire and Blood' Addam and Alyn of Hull (Abubaker Salim) are speculated to be the illegitimate children of Laenor, but since Laenor is a homosexual, they are also speculated to be children of Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint).

Fans react to Seasmoke choosing Addam of Hull

There was a tease between Addam of Hull and Seasmoke earlier in the show in Episode 2 and in this episode when Seasmoke goes after Addam, he doesn't know how to react and just runs for his life before Seasmoke comes face to face. Unlike the book, where Addam had to claim Seasmoke, here the dragon almost decided who his rider was going to be.

A Reddit user said, "I actually like the change to Addam/Seasmoke. Pretty funny how it was just like “you’re my rider now, deal with it”." Dragons are unpredictable and Seasmoke seems to have made his decision.

Another Reddit user pointed at the reason why Seasmoke rejected Steffon, "Im gonna say it, That kingsguard totally coulda claimed seasmoke if he didn't get cocky." Seasmoke burned him down the moment he felt happy about claiming the dragon.

A Reddit user found sense in Seasmoke's decision, "I thought Alyn was going to step in to save his brother and command the dragon so I’m surprised it’s Adamm who will ride the dragon considering he’s had half the screen time of his brother. Good logic where seasmoke finds Adamm who is SS’s last rider (Laenor)’s half brother- makes sense the dragon can sense that"

A Reddit user also pointed out at how beautiful the dragon is "I feel like Seasmoke is underappreciated by the fandom. Great looking dragon and cool story arc."

What happens to Addam of Hull and Seasmoke in 'House of the Dragon'?

Addam of Hull becomes a major part of the Dance of the Dragons as he helps queen Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) get the Iron Thorne along with the other dragon riders. She even legitimizes him and his brother as Velaryons.

However, things go downhill for him as he is considered to be a traitor too when Ulf (Tom Bennett) and Hugh the Hammer (Kieran Bew) betray Rhaenyra. When that happens, he takes it upon himself to prove his loyalty and that of illegitimate children.

He dies in Tumbleton in an epic battle where he along with Seasmoke goes up against Hugh and Daeron Targaryen. When they get into a battle with Vermithor and Tessarrion, all three Dragons die together.

His brother Alyn uses the word Loyal as his epitaph.
