Video footage shows riderless horse galloping at full speed on US 59 Highway as drivers attempt rescue
A fully saddled horse was caught running at full speed in the middle of a Houston highway and then stopped by passing drivers who managed to get it under control and maneuver it to safety.
"Only in Houston you see a horse on the freeway trying to get home to watch the Rockets game," Tomas Hurta posted on Facebook, CLick2Houston.com reported.
Although the horse was a day late for the Preakness, it was unclear how the horse ended up on the United States 59 highway in the first place. However, the captured footage is nothing less than stunning, reported Fox News.
In the video, drivers can be seen desperately trying to get around the horse and eventually trying to corral it. The driver of the car that filmed the incident can then be seen pulling up alongside the majestic animal and eventually blocking it between another pick-up.
The woman sitting in the other truck manages to grab the out-of-control horse by the reins and immobilizing it.
Being held by the reins, the horse can be seen walking alongside the truck. By that time, cars had slowed down to a crawl and ultimately stopped to see it.
“They just saved that horse’s life, that’s what they did,” the driver could be heard saying. The driver theorized that someone fell off of the horse and the horse took off.
Having said that, it is still unclear as to how the horse got away from its owner.
