In what has been described as a homophobic killing, a junior medical student in Algeria was found murdered inside his room at a well-known university. He had his throat slashed, with the killers then using his blood to smear "His gay [sic]" across the room's walls.

According to Daily Mail, 21-year-old Assil Belalta from the province of Bordj Bou Arréridj was found dead at his student residence at the Taleb Abderrahane campus at University City in Ben Aknoun, just outside the country's capital city of Algiers on Sunday, February 10.
